EXTRA-SOFT SILK-BLEND PRINTING
A supple silk-modal blend with a soft touch and relaxed drape for scarves, easy apparel and comfort-led collections.
- Comfortable soft hand for products worn close to the skin
- Relaxed drape suits generous wraps and easy silhouettes
- Works well with watercolour, tonal and abstract print stories
Why choose Silk Modal Fabric?
Silk modal blends are developed for softness. They are a useful direction for designers creating scarves and garments that should feel gentle, pliable and easy against the skin while still presenting custom colour with a refined finish.
Plan the right base before sampling
Send your artwork, intended product, target hand feel, quantity and timing. We will match these needs to a current base cloth and confirm the practical sampling path before bulk production.

Where this fabric works best
Soft wraps
A comfortable base for larger scarves and everyday accessories.
Relaxed apparel
Supports tops, dresses and pieces designed around an easy drape.
Comfort collections
Useful where softness and wearability lead the material brief.
Artwork and sampling notes
- Approve softness and colour on the same finished sample because finishing affects both.
- Share pilling, wash and end-use expectations before confirming the base.
- Use full-size artwork when gradients or large soft edges are central to the design.
From file to approved fabric
- Brief: share artwork, colour references, end use and target quantity.
- Base selection: compare suitable constructions, weights and finishes.
- Strike-off: review colour, scale and print behaviour on the selected fabric.
- Bulk production: approve the sample standard before printing and final inspection.
Frequently asked questions
What does modal add to silk?
Modal can contribute a soft, supple hand and relaxed drape, while silk can add lustre and a refined surface. The finished character depends on the actual fibre ratio, yarn, weave and finishing, so a silk-modal blend may range from light and fluid to more substantial. It should not be expected to feel identical to pure silk satin. Printed colour and fine detail can also respond differently on each construction. We recommend selecting the base around the finished product and approving both hand feel and print performance on a physical sample.
Is it suitable for scarves?
Yes. Silk-modal can be suitable for soft scarves, wraps and accessories that need comfortable drape and a less formal surface than high-lustre satin. The preferred weight depends on finished dimensions, the desired knot or fold, opacity and edge finishing. Lighter bases feel airier but may show more colour on the reverse; heavier constructions give more body. Share your dimensions, artwork, target hand feel and quantity and we can recommend a suitable base, then confirm colour, drape and reverse appearance with a printed strike-off.
Can the composition be customised?
Possibly, subject to base-cloth supply, yarn availability, width, quantity and timing. Existing silk-modal constructions are usually the fastest and most economical option. A non-standard composition or weave can require dedicated development, a higher minimum and a longer lead time, and the final result still needs weaving and print approval. Tell us the target composition, weight, hand feel, width and order quantity. We can first compare practical stock options and, where the project supports it, discuss custom development with clear sampling and approval stages.
