Frequently asked questions
Is silk viscose the same as pure silk?
No. Silk-viscose is a blended fabric and should be specified by its actual fibre composition. Viscose can contribute fluid drape, softness and a different colour response, while silk adds its own hand and lustre. The result may look and feel refined, but it will not behave exactly like a 100% silk fabric in weight, crease recovery, care or surface character. Composition, construction and finishing should therefore be selected around the product rather than the name alone. We confirm the offered blend in the quotation and recommend approving a physical swatch and printed sample.
Why choose this blend?
Designers may choose silk-viscose when they want a fluid, soft fabric with an elegant surface while meeting particular hand-feel, weight or commercial targets. The blend can work well for flowing garments and accessories, but performance varies substantially with fibre ratio and weave. Printed colour may appear richer or more matte than on pure silk satin, and very fine detail should be checked on the actual base. Share the end use, target composition, width and quantity so we can compare suitable constructions and confirm the preferred option through sampling.
Can it be used for scarves and apparel?
Yes. Depending on weight and construction, silk-viscose can be used for scarves, dresses, blouses, skirts, linings and other products that benefit from soft drape. Lightweight bases suit movement and layering, while denser constructions provide more body and opacity. For scarves, we review edge finishing and reverse-side colour; for apparel, we also consider lining, seam behaviour and repeat placement. The correct base is selected from the finished product requirements, then a swatch or printed strike-off is used to confirm colour, hand feel and practical performance.
