VERSATILE SILK TWILL PRINTING

A dependable printed silk with a visible diagonal weave, rich colour response and enough body for scarves, accessories and structured garments.

  • Recognisable diagonal texture creates a substantial premium hand
  • Holds folds, knots and finished edges neatly
  • Works well for both detailed repeats and bold brand-led graphics

Why choose Silk Twill Fabric?

Silk twill balances softness with shape retention. The diagonal construction gives the fabric a recognisable texture and helps finished pieces hold a clean fold, making it a practical choice for branded scarves, neckwear, pocket squares and fashion accessories.

Frequently asked questions

Why is silk twill popular for scarves?

Silk twill is popular because its diagonal weave gives the fabric a useful balance of softness, body and resilience. It drapes comfortably around the neck, holds a clean fold and knot, and usually feels more substantial than very light plain-weave silks. The surface also supports saturated colour and detailed artwork, although the diagonal rib can slightly soften extremely fine lines. The best weight depends on the finished scarf size and the way it will be worn, so we recommend confirming hand feel, print clarity and reverse-side colour penetration with a printed strike-off or sample.

Can twill be used for small accessories?

Yes. Printed silk twill works well for pocket squares, neckerchiefs, ribbons, bag accents, hair accessories and other small cut pieces because it combines a refined surface with enough structure to keep its shape. For narrow products, the artwork repeat, cutting direction and placement marks should be planned before sampling so important motifs are not lost at the edges. Lighter twills give a softer result, while heavier constructions feel firmer and more sculpted. Share the final dimensions, finishing method and target use and we can recommend an appropriate base and sampling route.

How do I choose the right weight?

Start with the finished product rather than a weight number alone. A small scarf or pocket square usually benefits from a lighter, easier-folding twill, while a large square, structured accessory or garment panel may need more body and opacity. Momme and GSM are useful references, but weave density, finishing and fibre quality also affect drape, hand feel and print appearance. Tell us the dimensions, intended knot or fold, desired opacity and reference fabric. We can compare suitable stock bases and confirm the choice with a swatch or printed sample before bulk production.
